Libya’s national boules team has qualified for the World Championship in Brazil after winning four medals at the African Championship held in Algeria.
The Libyan team secured two gold medals, one silver and one bronze during the continental competition. The results earned Libya a place at the World Championship finals scheduled to take place in Brazil in October 2026.
Abdulmohaymen Al-Zantouti won Libya’s first gold medal in the men’s singles competition. He later partnered with Rashed Sweisi to claim a second gold in the men’s doubles event.
Libya’s under-19 team added a silver medal in the junior doubles competition through Abdulmoez Al-Zantouti and Mohamed Rahouma.
The women’s national team completed Libya’s medal tally by winning bronze in the women’s doubles event. Sajida Al-Muradi and Ritaj Shweshin represented Libya in the competition.
Libya’s Ministry of Sports said the team participated with its support as part of efforts to provide national athletes with suitable conditions to compete in African and international tournaments.
The four-medal performance strengthens Libya’s position in African boules and gives the national team further momentum ahead of the World Championship in Brazil.
The ministry credited the players, coaches and administrative staff for the results and said it would continue supporting national teams seeking further success in regional and international competitions.
