On Saturday, the media office of Tripoli Hospital denied the existence of a patient infected with coronavirus at the hospital, stating that the patient in question had been tested negative for coronavirus.

The Libyan National Centre for Infectious Diseases Prevention and Control previously stated that no cases of coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, have been detected in the country.

In a statement, the Libyan National Centre for Infectious Diseases Prevention and Control said a national committee had been formed to manage preparation and raise awareness on public health measures that are now in place to confront the virus.

So far thermal imaging cameras have been set up in all entry points to Libya and visas for citizens of countries experiencing large outbreaks of COVID-19 have been suspended.
