On Monday, a Tunisian civil aviation delegation visited Benina International Airport. The delegation was received by government officials from the airport and the Airports Authority.

The visit came to to organize procedures for the resumption of flights between Benghazi and Tunis. The delegation undertook a field tour of the airport to check the safety and security measures in place, as well as their compliance with internationally approved standards.

The members of the delegation recorded their observations to ensure that security and safety measures were followed in preparation for the resumption of Tunisian Airlines flights.

In March, Tunisia closed its airports due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. It partially resumed flights on 27 June.

The COVID-19 pandemic has killed more than 1.3 million people in 191 countries since December 2019. The United States, India, and Brazil are currently the worst-hit countries by the virus.

More than 53.1 million cases have been reported worldwide, with 34.2 million recovering according to figures compiled by the US-based Johns Hopkins University.
