Major General Khaled Al-Mahjoub, Director of the Moral Guidance Department at the Libyan National Army (LNA) confirmed that they will take “immediate measures in responding to any threat from the Turkish forces,” insisting on their immediate withdrawal from Libya.
In a statement, Al-Mahjoub pointed to the commitment of the LNA General Command to implement all outputs of the 5+5 Joint Military Committee (JMC) ceasefire agreement signed in Geneva. This is in reference to the agreement to ensure the removal of all mercenaries and foreign fighters, and reopen the coastal road.
He stressed that the LNA supported the ongoing peace process, preserving democracy, ensuring the peaceful transition of power, and supporting the new Presidential Council and interim government.
On 6 February, Libyan delegates at UN-facilitated Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) elected Abdel-Hamid Dbaiba as Prime Minister, along with a three-member Presidential Council headed by Mohamed Al-Mnifi to lead the North African country to the December elections.
