A delegation from the Libya Academy for Postgraduate Studies headed by Dr. Ramadan Al-Hadi Al-Madani visited Cairo. This was to strengthen communication relations between the academy, and Egyptian universities.

The delegation included Faisal Abdul-Azim Al-Abdali, Director General of the Libya Authority for Scientific Research; Nasser Mohamed Al-Mahdi, Director of the Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research; and Professor Aref Ahmed, Dean of Strategic and International Studies at the Libya Academy for Postgraduate Studies.

During the visit, the academy signed a cooperation agreement with Sohag University. This included scientific cooperation in all disciplines, and the initiation of joint supervision of doctoral programs.

During the visit, Chargé d’Affairs of the Libya Embassy in Cairo, Mohamed Abdelali Misbah received the delegation.

The Ambassador praised the academy’s strategic goal of localizing and developing graduate programs in the country.

Misbah said that this would reduce the public budget, raise the level of higher education outputs throughout the country, and provide greater educational opportunities for all segments of society.

The Ambassador expressed his joy at the agreement with Sohag University. He confirmed the Embassy’s readiness to provide support, and help conclude future agreements with Al-Azhar and Ain Shams universities.

In November, a statement from the employees of the Libyan Omar Al-Mukhtar University (OAMU) in the city of Al-Bayda announced a complete strike from the university until they consider the settlement of their salaries and their financial conditions, similar to the faculty members.

The strike came after a meeting held on Thursday at the university against the background of the financial settlement that affected faculty members without including employees.
