Libyan Professor Awarded Honorary Doctorate

The British Diana INTL College awarded Libyan lecturer Abdul Salam Mohamed Salem Ali Masoud with an honorary doctorate in the field of musical arts.

The college said, “we are pleased to present you with an honorary doctorate degree from Diana INTL College in the belief that this honour gives an incentive towards giving and a motivation towards work.”

Abdul Salam, is a Libyan national who works as a faculty member, as a lecturer. He obtained an intermediate diploma in musical arts, then a Bachelor’s and then a Master’s in the same specialisation.

Previously, he worked as the Head of the Music Studies Department at Jamal El Din El Milad Institute for Music and Theater. He also held the position of a former collaborating faculty member at Misurata University, at the faculty of Education, Department of Music. He is currently the Head of the Musical Arts Department at the Faculty of Arts and Media at the University of Tripoli.

Abdul Salam has many experiences and skills, the most important of which are:

  • The Libyan Song Festival, the first, second, third and fourth sessions.
  • The Festival of Al-Mawfaat and Muwashahat in all its sessions.
  • The first Libyan Song Festival for Talents 2010.
  • The World Music Day and the open cultural program in the musical track.
  • He participated as a jury in some musical events, some courses to teach the principles and rules of music Participation in the Student Singing Festival and the Music Intelligence Festival in Tunisia.
  • He also participated in recording some patriotic works and reviving artistic events in his country.
  • He is a former radio band player.
  • He participated in international events in France, Yugoslavia, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia, UAE and Germany. He also worked as a cooperating faculty member for a number of private schools.
  • He obtained a certificate from the General Authority for Endowments to memorise the last quarter of the Holy Qur’an, obtaining a certificate in the field of advertising and public relations.
  • He was also ranked first in the field of playing the lute. He obtained a certificate from the Research, Consultation and Training Center. He obtained a certificate from the central committee for secondary school certificate exams at the University of Tripoli as Head of the sub-committee.
