The Libyan Football Federation (LFF), and the General Committee for Organizing Competitions headed by Hussein Abdel-Rahman Al-Busifi, have decided to ban fans from attending stadium matches due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A penalty of 10,000 dinars will be imposed on violating clubs.

The LFF sent a letter to the heads of sub-federations regarding this decision. This came as part of instructions made by the ‘High Advisory Public Committee to Combat the Coronavirus Pandemic.’

At the same time, the LFF stated it appreciated the role of the subsidiary federations in the success of sports competitions, and worked to broadcast them live. It called for coordination with security directorates to prevent fans from attempting to attend the games.

Head of the ‘Coronavirus Scientific Committee’ of the outgoing Government of National Accord (GNA), Hassan Hosni stated that they had signed a contract with the COVAX facility to purchase up to 2.8 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines. This will be enough to vaccinate 1.4 million citizens, including doctors, medical staff, elderly people, individuals suffering from chronic illnesses, in addition to pregnant women.
