Over 250 Migrants From Southern Libya Rescued by IOM

The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) has announced on Sunday the rescue of more than 250 migrants near the northern Madama region of Niger, nearby the border with Libya.

According to the IOM, the migrants will undergo a 14 days quarantine as part of the prevention measures taken by the government to fight off the coronavirus epidemic. The large number of migrants reaching Libya in spite of its borders being closed is a big cause of concern for authorities.

On March 17, IOM emphasized that it continues to provide support to migrants in Libya, in spite of the difficulty in reaching them due to the ongoing conflict.
