A new direct cargo shipping line between Tunisia’s Sfax and Libya’s Tripoli is set to be launched this Saturday, according to the Tunisian Ministry of Transport and Logistics.

The shipping line will be used to facilitate Tunisian exports of foodstuffs to Tripoli, in an initiative aimed at enhancing the trade exchange between Libya and Tunisia, especially in light of the exceptional circumstances experienced by the two countries facing coronavirus outbreaks.

The Ministry said in a statement that an agreement was reached with one of the maritime carriers to transport Tunisian exports, from the port of Sfax to the port of Tripoli.

It added that this new shipping line will support Tunisian exporters, help them reach new markets, and develop trade relations between Tunisia and Libya.
