Algerian Oil Tanker Delivers 23,000 Tons of Diesel Fuel to Benghazi

On Sunday, a source in Benghazi’s port revealed that the fuel tanker ‘Sunny Star’ had entered the port’s crude oil berth, transporting more than 23,000 tons of diesel fuel from the port of Skikda in Algeria.

This transfer is part of the Brega Petroleum Marketing Company’s plan to strengthen the services it provides to Libyan citizens.

The head of the National Oil Corporation, Mustafa Sanallah, previously said that fuel imports in Libya have significantly increased since oil-pumping operations were suspended in January 2020.

The blockade on Libya’s oil facilities is still ongoing. It affects the two Zawiya refineries that are supplied by the Sharara oil field, Libya’s largest field, which has been shut down for the past five months.

Libya’s Tripoli-based Government of National Accord has declared a state of emergency in response to the global Covid-19 pandemic, closing all ports of entry into the country.
