On Tuesday, Algerian Foreign Minister Sabri Boukdoum visited Moscow at the invitation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to discuss recent developments in the Libyan file.

The visit was an opportunity to discuss various regional and international issues of common concern, especially the situations in Libya, Mali and Syria, in addition to promoting peace and international security through constructive political approaches, said the Algerian foreign ministry.

Lavrov hopes that his talks with the Algerian minister will result in outlining a new roadmap and strategies to solve the crisis in Libya.

Algerian President Abdelmajid Tebboune on Sunday revealed that his country has an initiative for a solution to the Libyan crisis that has been accepted by the UN and that may be submitted in coordination with Tunisia.

Tebboune did not disclose the content of this initiative, but he previously made an offer to host rounds of dialogue between the Libyan parties leading to a ceasefire and to go to a political track through the election of new institutions and the constitution of the country.
