The United Nations Support Mission in Libya has reiterated its commitment to supporting a comprehensive political solution in Libya, as structured dialogue talks continue to address key governance and security challenges.

The mission announced that participants in the security and governance tracks of the structured dialogue are holding parallel meetings as part of the third round of direct discussions, which are taking place over four consecutive days. These sessions bring together Libyan stakeholders in an effort to advance consensus on critical national issues.

According to the mission, discussions in this round are focusing on major priorities related to security sector reform and governance. This includes areas such as national security, defence, and law enforcement, with the aim of improving the effectiveness of security institutions and promoting their unification.

The talks are also addressing the root causes of Libya’s prolonged crisis, particularly challenges linked to local governance and the ongoing constitutional deadlock, which continues to hinder the organisation of credible national elections.

UNSMIL said the sessions are designed to produce practical and actionable recommendations that will be incorporated into the final report of the structured dialogue. These outcomes are expected to support efforts toward a broader political settlement.

The mission stressed that the ongoing discussions reflect a sustained and coordinated commitment by Libyan parties to move the political process forward, unify state institutions, and create the necessary conditions for holding nationwide elections.
