IOM Announces Rescuing 299 Migrants

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced the rescue of 299 migrants,who attempted to cross the Mediterranean.

The IOM said the migrants had been rescued by the Libyan Coast Guard, noting that they had since been returned to Libya.

The Organization pointed out that the number of migrants who have been seized and returned to Libya since the beginning of 2020 had reached 5,775.

According to the United Nations, 3,000 migrants are living in shelters in Libya under terrible conditions.

The IOM called for an end to what it called the arbitrary detention of migrants after being returned to Libya.
