Tunisia Steps Up Border Security With Libya

Tunisian Defense Minister Emad Al-Hazqi said on Saturday that his country has stepped up its security measures on the borders with Libya, after monitoring many attempts to infiltrate the country from Libya.

The Tunisian Defense Minister pointed out that the concerns raised on the Tunisian border are due to the exceptional and dangerous situation in Libya, which is witnessing war and the influx of a massive number of mercenaries and weapons.

This situation made Tunisia step up its security methods by deploying the national armed forces along the border with Libya, he said.

Al-Haziqi stressed that these attempts will be dealt with severely, especially since the border areas are military buffer zones, which allows Tunisian forces to legally use all means of defense to counter these phenomena.
