Libyan Transport Minister, Mohamed Al-Shahoubi, announced Libya’s aspirations for the resumption of flights by Royal Air Maroc, Qatar Airways, and Saudi Arabia’s Flynas during the first half of this year.

Speaking at the inauguration of regular commercial flights between Tripoli and Rome by the Italian airline ITA Airways, Al-Shahoubi celebrated the milestone, marking the first such flights in over a decade.

“ITA is the first European airline to endorse the safety and security of our airspace and the readiness of Libyan airports to handle international traffic in compliance with global standards,” he stated.

The minister expressed Libya’s readiness to grant ITA additional transport rights to connect Libyan airports with other European Union destinations. He emphasised that the launch of ITA’s regular flights today is a significant step towards restoring Libya’s international commercial flight network.

This move signals Libya’s commitment to re-establishing its aviation industry and improving connectivity with the global market, underscoring the country’s determination to ensure compliance with international aviation standards.

Al-Shahoubi’s remarks also highlighted Libya’s broader strategy to revive its aviation sector, attract international airlines, and enhance economic ties through improved air connectivity.
